Getting someone to like meee help! easy points & just need a quick opinion!?

hey so theres a guy i think is cute, hes shy, but we did a quartet thing together for orchestra. he goes to another school so i dont see him. i have his number but he only gave it to me to coordinate so idk if it would be weird to text him or whatever or what would be a good approach to go from for me?
